POWER OF CHOICE | FOOD SECURITY | FOR EVERYONE

Amber Waves is part of the fabric of local farms who work closely with food pantries to feed our neighbors.

There is a quiet but dire need for food security by more than 10% of our local residents. Exorbitant housing costs and the inconsistency of seasonal employment puts pressure on thousands of hardworking locals who rely on food pantries for assistance.

In 2024 we donated over 25,000 pounds of produce locally to our neighbors in need.

Over the course of the year local families enjoy a variety of seedlings, fresh produce and herbs, flower bouquets, and access to free cooking workshops.

The heart of our food access work is to ensure that local families can access farm fresh food grown right out back in our fields. 100% of the food we grow stays local in our East End community, from the CSA, to our market and kitchen, to the local senior center and food pantries - we’re feeding our neighbors.

The Amber Waves Food Security Program humanizes and advances the experience of picking up donated food by providing fresh, high quality produce that is culturally relevant to our communities. Whereas food pantry donations are sometimes the "seconds" or nearing their expiration date, Amber Waves is committed to providing a more robust response to local food insecurity.

We are uniquely positioned to provide meaningful food access to our neighbors in need. As not only a production farm but also a commercial kitchen and market. We have nutritious food at all stages: fresh produce straight from our fields to fill grocery bags at local pantries; ready-made hearty soups prepared in our kitchen to support busy, working families; as well as unsold retail food products that can be transformed into healthy meals by our food access distribution partners.

Thoughts from our food access partners:

"Amber Waves Farm is such a generous supporter of the Springs Food Pantry. With donations of food and flowers, they nourish both the stomachs and hearts of our community." – Kira Brandman, Springs Food Pantry

We are delighted to be partnering with the dedicated team at Amber Waves to supply fresh and healthy produce to underserved communities in the East End on a weekly basis.  Amber Waves’ commitment through its innovative Food Access Program is successfully building community, reducing food waste and helping the environment and we are thrilled to be associated with its effort.” – Radika Eccles, Food Rescue
